In recent years, POWERCHINA has handled 127 technological research projects, with 86 of them in the completion stage, with nine of them world leaders and 20 among the world's most advanced.

These helped solve a number of global technological problems in super-large hydropower projects under complicated conditions and helped develop advanced technology in surveys, design work, and construction of high dams, excavation of super-large underground cavities, installation of super-large water turbines, fabrication and installation of large metal structures, river closures, deep foundations, anti-seepage treatments, processing of large gravel aggregate, and the fabrication and installation of cement systems.
