The Zhundong-Wannan ±1100 kilovolt ultra-high-voltage direct current transmission project has delivered more than 400 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity since its inauguration in 2019. As of Monday, the cumulative transmission volume reached 402.19 billion kWh, according to State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co.

Starting in the Changji Hui autonomous prefecture, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the project passes through Gansu province, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, Shaanxi and Henan provinces before ending in East China's Anhui province, spanning a total of 3,293 kilometers.

It currently holds three world records for a UHV project: the world's highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity and the longest transmission distance. Since 2021, the project has maintained the highest annual transmission volume among UHV projects nationwide, setting a national record with an average daily transmission of 169 million kWh.

The company said in 2025 the project transmitted 69.87 billion kWh of electricity, accounting for nearly one-fifth of Anhui's total power consumption.
