Mentougou's Sijiashui village has cultivated Chinese toon for more than 600 years.
The white pear is a specialty in Beijing’s Mentougou district. It’s juicy and has thin skin, thick pulp, and a sweet and sour taste.
The village declared autumn porridge festival at the beginning of the season, because locals who succeeded in imperial exams had porridge on that day.
Mentougou is known for its big walnuts. A total of 268 out of its 271 villages have walnut trees.
