The Qingdao pier project, contracted for construction by China State Construction Port Engineering Group as part of the national deep-sea base program, began caisson installation recently. The project will be finished by the end of the year.

The pier platform is 280 meters long, 50 meters wide and 10 meters deep. It has an approach bank that measures 393 meters high and 17 meters wide. The side facing the coast is made of caissons and the side facing the sea consists of breakwater structures. The program will consume 800,000 cubic meters of earth and stone.
