Thursday marked the 68th anniversary of the Japanese declaration of unconditional surrender and victory day for both the Chinese people's anti-Japanese war and the world's anti-Fascist war, which stirred up a wave of commemoration online.

Zhang Biqing, owner of an illegally built "villa" on the rooftop of a 26-storey building in Beijing started to demolish it on Thursday. Zhang had been urged to demolish the villa by urban management bureau since 2009.
