In her oil paintings, Guangzhou-based artist Zhuang Yan, 25, invites the audience to a quiet and an intimate environment that reflects her understanding of life.

Veil of Light, Zhuang's ongoing exhibition in Beijing, shows a dozen of her paintings created over the past few years.

Her fine brushwork highlights the rich tones of different colors, the layers her subjects define and ultimately give viewers a glimpse of the play of light.

The show is on at the 58 Art Space through Nov 30.
