China's flying eye hospital takes first voyage to Hainan
On March 20, the big thing happened in China's Hainan province.
The inauguration ceremony of the Hainan Free Trade Port vision care outreach program by the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University — as well as the launch of Hainan's international ophthalmic medical services and the Hainan stop of the "Vision Care for Hundreds of Cities, Reaching Millions of Families" initiative — was held in Boao town, in Qionghai.
The first flying eye hospital — converted from a C909 aircraft — carried out its inaugural public welfare mission in Hainan. The initiative aims to build a high-level platform for international cooperation in ophthalmic care, while fostering the development of high-quality eye care resources across the island province.
Soon, patients from across Southeast Asia will also have eye care service on air, according to the center.
