BEIJING - China on Wednesday urged the international community to be on alert for any comments which attempt to vindicate Japan's invasion history and challenge post-war world order.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying's comments came in response to a question regarding recent Japanese comments.

Chairman of Japan's public broadcaster NHK Katsuto Momii insisted there was nothing wrong with his earlier remarks on "comfort women", a euphemism for sex slaves during World War II.

Last month, during his first press conference as NHK president, Momii said comfort women were common in countries at war at that time, and that media "cannot say left when the government says right."

Apart from Momii's comments, an aide to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had expressed disappointment at US criticism of Abe's shrine visit. "It's us who are disappointed," said Seiichi Eto in a message recently posted on the YouTube video-sharing website.

Hua said China has taken note of reports that reveal Japanese political forces clinging doggedly to a wrong view of history, with no repentence for the atrocities the Japanese militarism brought to victim countries.

"They are still attempting to vindicate their aggression and challenge the victory in WWII and post-war world order," Hua told a routine press briefing.

"These are consistent with Japanese leader's mistakes that ran counter to history," she added.

Hua reiterated that international order and historical justice never tolerate any challenge.

"Some people in Japan time and again deliberately distort and deny history, and pose a challenge to the conscience of mankind. I want to ask, what do they really want?" said the spokesperson.

She urged alarm and opposition of all peace-loving countries and people over Japan's mistakes.
