Woman imprisoned naked by parents for five years

24-year-old Zhang Qi was locked in an abandoned house by her parents for about five years in Jingang village, Jiaogan city, Hubei province, according to Internet users on cnhubei.com.

The parents claim their daughter suffered from mental illness but they couldn't afford to send her to hospital. Furthermore, they claim she was a danger to others.

The county police revealed more details about the girl, saying the girl's parents strongly objected against her boyfriend when she was eighteen as the boyfriend was a distant relative. They verbally abused their daughter which led to her severe mental problems.

Now the girl has been rescued by some Internet users and sent to hospital. The government has been covering her medical bills and the case is under investigation.
