Tevez burgled while tying knot

Corner kicks

Thieves robbed the Buenos Aires home of Argentine striker Carlos Tevez while the Boca Juniors star was in Uruguay celebrating his wedding, police sources said on Tuesday.

The value of the stolen items has not been disclosed, as the former Manchester City and Manchester United forward had not filed an official complaint.

Tevez married the mother of his three children, Vanesa Mansilla, last Thursday in front of more than 200 guests at a ceremony on the banks of the Rio de la Plata.

He discovered the burglary on Sunday when he returned to his house in the affluent San Isidro neighborhood on the outskirts of the Argentine capital.

The thieves reportedly gained access through a building site on an adjoining property.

The 32-year-old is expected to finalize a transfer to Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua this week, and is reportedly set to pocket $41.6 million a season - 20 times what he currently earns at Boca Juniors.

Ronaldo, Santos honored

Corner kicks

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal's Euro 2016-winning coach Fernando Santos scooped the top prizes at the seventh edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Tuesday.

Ronaldo claimed the best player award after helping his country land its first major title at this year's European championship and firing Real to a record 11th European Cup triumph.

"Probably (this) was my best year so far," Ronaldo, who earlier this month won his fourth Ballon d'Or, said in a video message.

"People still have doubts about me, about Real Madrid, about the national team ... and you have the proof. We win everything, so amazing year, I'm so happy."

Santos, 62, was named best manager after masterminding Portugal's success in France, while Champions League winner Madrid took home the prize for club of the year.

Simeone 'staying at Atletico'

Argentine coach Diego Simeone will remain at Atletico Madrid next season, the club's chief executive officer Miguel Angel Gil Marin said on Tuesday.

Simeone, 46, signed a contract extension in 2015 that tied him to the club until June 2020, an unusually long deal by Spanish standards.

In September, Simeone reduced the deal to 2018, sparking speculation that he may leave.

Asked about Simeone's future, Gil Marin said he will stay at Atletico "this season and the next for sure".

"He has been with us for five years and it would be reasonable if he stayed with us many more because we are delighted," he added during an interview with TV station La Sexta.

Simeone, a former Atletico midfielder, has led the club to a host of trophies since taking charge in 2011, including the domestic title in 2014 and two Champions League finals, in 2014 and 2016.

Bradley's Swan song

Premier League struggler Swansea City dismissed coach Bob Bradley on Tuesday after only 11 games in charge.

Bradley became the first American to manage in England's top flight when he replaced Francesco Guidolin in October.

However, the Swans won just twice since his appointment and is second-from-bottom in the standings.

"Swansea City can confirm that the club has parted company with manager Bob Bradley," the Welsh club said.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We felt we had to make the change with half the Premier League season remaining."

Former Team USA boss Bradley's exit came a day after the Swans were thumped 4-1 at home by West Ham, the club's seventh loss of Bradley's tenure.

The 58-year-old took training on Tuesday but was subsequently relieved of his duties.

Reborn Yaya a real City 'kid'

Yaya Toure

Yaya Toure said he feels reborn after returning from exile to play a key role in Manchester City's Premier League title challenge.

Toure, 33, appeared destined to leave City after being frozen out by manager Pep Guardiola earlier in the season. However, the Ivorian midfielder has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance over the past six weeks.

"I look like a kid, just enjoying playing and helping my teammates and the fans. It's very important to me," Toure said.

"I'm used to winning Premier Leagues, and I think it's second two times. I want to win another. I know it's going to be tough, but we have to keep going because Chelsea is very good this year."
