Scandinavian 'gold'

Denmark's House of Amber is offering a jewelry show of items from its museum in Copenhagen at its five Beijing stores, from this month till February.
Hailed as the "gold of Northern Europe", amber is among the first materials used by man to make jewelry.
Every piece of amber artwork on display is a refined work of art that also tells stories about climate change and the influence of nature between 20 and 50 million years ago.
Resin from enormous, prehistoric pine trees was swept away into the ocean, pressed and hardened over millions of years to turn to amber.
But according to Danish fairy tales, amber was formed by tears of joy shed by Prince Pine when he met his lover, Princess Mermaid, who was turned into a fly by her father, the King of the Sea, who forbid her from seeing the prince.
Also of note is an 18 carat gold set, including a necklace and bracelet. The combination of modern workmanship and an ancient Egyptian style, it is made of horn, amber and gold.
