Zhongguancun Medical Engineering and Transformation Platform (Chongqing) settled down in Liangjiang New Area’s Shuitu High-tech Industrial Park on Feb 15, drawing numerous followers in the pharmaceutical industry to seek cooperation with Liangjiang New Area.

Zhongguancun, often referred to as “China’s Silicon Valley”, is a well-known technology hub in China. Its platform has promoted more than 40 projects to closely examine Chongqing for further cooperation.

Liangjiang New Area has inked cooperation agreements with 23 famous medical enterprises, including Beijing Bioyong, Madecare Medical Instrument Co Ltd, and Sigma-Aldrich.

Li Jianwei, the deputy director of the Zhongguancun Medical Engineering and Transformation Platform (Chongqing), said, “The investment in the platform’s first phase is projected to exceed 1 billion ($146 million) and the annual value of production will be up to 3 billion ($437 million). In the next three years, the center plans to introduce over 100 projects with an annual value of production of 10 billion (1.46 billion).”

The Zhongguancun Medical Engineering and Transformation Platform (Chongqing), supported by the China Food and Drug Administration, is a professional public service platform in the field of medical engineering. It employs over 140 well-known experts and developed more than 150 patents.

Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area administrative committee, noted that the Zhongguancun’s project will boost the development of the biological medicine industry and medical instruments industry in Liangjiang New Area.
