Provincial government praises Sanmenxia's ecological environment

The city of Sanmenxia in Henan province has achieved considerable progress in the work of improving ecological environment, according to Zhang Weining, vice-governor of the provincial government.

The official voiced his view based on his inspection during a visit to the city on Dec 13. A couple of other provincial officials also accompanied him.

The Wanda Plaza in the city's Hubin district had become the first stop of the officials' visit. The project was under construction now and will open to the public next year. Onsite managers explained the measures they take to restrict the pollution and to conduct stronger monitoring of sources of pollutants, which received an agreement from the officials.

For some local branches of energy companies like China National Petroleum Corporation and China Datang Corporation, a state-owned power company headquartered in Beijing, the officials inspected the current operation and the ways to reduce carbon emissions.

The energy companies have made concerted efforts to curb air pollution and have progressed in resource re-allocation to secure a sound and sustainable economic development for the industry, said Zhang.

He also urged metal enterprises such as Kaiman Aluminum Co Ltd to grab the opportunities for energy-saving, pollution-reducing, technological transformation and facility improvement.

After hearing the report from Zhao Haiyan, mayor of Sanmenxia, the provincial officials had deep insights into the city's the current economic development and the environmental protection. They all made positive comments on the local government's work.

On approaching to the 2016 New Year, inspections conducted by the provincial or local governments are more common than ever. It ensures a fruitful conclusion for the past year and a good beginning for the next, according to local officials of Sanmenxia.
