Yongding Tulou Cluster is considered a museum of Chinese Tulou residences, and Hongkeng Folk Cultural Village is viewed as the embodiment of Yongding Hakka earth buildings.
Hongkeng is a small village of over 500 families and 2,000 people. It is surrounded by mountains with the clear Hongchuan Creek flowing through. The rolling mountains and magnificent tulou can be viewed on the bridge over the creek.
This village is famous for its 30-odd tulou of different sizes and shapes, among which the Zhencheng Building is the grandest. This building is nicknamed "the Prince of Tulou." In addition to the Zhencheng Building, there are many other famous buildings, like the Rusheng Building, a miniature round earth building; the Kuiju Building, which resembles the Potala Palace; the Fuyu Building, a mansion-style building; and the Jingyang Building, with the thickest walls among all Hongkeng tulou.
