Strong IPR laws needed

Weak IPR protection in China has been thwarting the country's industrial innovativeness and upgrade, says an article on JsChina.com.cn. Excerpts:
Made-in-China products are a very important part of the world economy. But many of these products are mere copies of those made in other countries.
China joined the WTO almost a decade ago, but IPR violations are still rampant in the industrial sector, and violators are seldom punished. This has created two problems: foreign enterprises' hesitation to transfer their technologies and the lack of innovative ideas among domestic enterprises.
Only the strengthening of IPR protection laws can revive China's technological innovativeness and industrial upgrade, and save the made-in-China brand.
