Bayer and Kunming Dihon Pharmaceutical Co have established a cooperative framework in Kunming National Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone. Wang Minzheng, director of the zone, met Johannes M. Dietsch, President of Bayer Greater China Group, and Guo Zhenyu, Chairman of Dihon on Aug 13.

Wang warmly welcomed Dietsch’s coming and outlined the zone’s development in recent years, especially in bio-industries. He said that the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone plans to develop botanical drugs as its pillar industry depending on the rich natural resources and unique geographical advantages in Yunnan province. He said Bayer owns the advanced pharmaceutical R&D techniques, which have set good examples for Dihon and other enterprises in the zone. The cooperation between Bayer and Dihon is one of the milestones in the development of the zone.

Dietsch said Bayer, which entered China in 1882, has established a large market and witnessed good development. Yunnan has developed rapidly in the bio and pharmaceutical industries in recent years thanks to its rich biological resources. Dihon Pharmaceutical Co, a leading company in China’s pharmaceutical industry, has a good brand reputation. Therefore, the cooperation with Dihon in Yunnan province will be an excellent development opportunity for Bayer.

Dietsch expressed condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Ludian. To help people in the quake-hit area, Bayer offered donations of money and medicines after the disaster.

Wang thanked Dietsch and Bayer Group for their efforts in Sino-German cooperation. He promised that the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone would provide the best investment environment and offer the two companies superior services to advance that cooperation.
