The top court will continue to support the Tibet and Xinjiang autonomous regions in the court system to achieve economic development and social stability, said Shen Deyong, the Supreme People’s Court’s executive vice-president.

On Dec 25, the court held a meeting to review its work in assisting the two regions since 2012 and deliberate on a plan drafted under new circumstances.

Shen said that it will unveil judicial interpretations and policies in time to guide courts in Tibet and Xinjiang in quickly and severely trying terrorism cases endangering national security, unity, and stability, and cases involving industrial restructuring, resource exploitation, and emerging industries.

In addition to judgment assistance, Shen also expressed a need for talented personnel and monetary help. He said the SPC will carefully choose personnel in the assistance work, while helping train officials, judges and police in the courts.

He said funds will be spent first in the courts’ informationization construction to adopt updated technology and train staff in application usage.

Shen asked the courts giving help to include the work in their agendas and in national and regional support plans; he also asked courts in Tibet and Xinjiang to monitor the use of funds.
