Shanxi University (SXU), Jincheng municipal government and Foxconn Science and Technology Industrial Park based in Jincheng city launched a joint project in the opto-mechatronics industry on March 15.

Physics researchers at SXU and technical staff from Foxconn will tackle key problems in the opto-mechatronics field, focusing on priority areas for businesses. They will also conduct scientific research to help Jincheng develop an opto-mechatronics industrial cluster.

"The joint project is a good start for the government, the university and the company to construct an opto-mechatronics industrial demonstration center integrated with cloud computing and internet technology," said Yan Yuxi, assistant manager of Foxconn (Jincheng) Science and Technology Industrial Park.

SXU has made significant progress in its research of quantum optics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum information, solid-state laser technology, and laser precision measurement.

In addition, it has managed to commercialize a series of opto-mechatronics research achievements over the past few years. It was also a pioneer in establishing a State key laboratory of quantum optics and quantum optics devices among universities and colleges in Shanxi province.
