Pingyao initiates TCM promotion and training

A training session about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) took place in Pingyao Hospital of TCM on Nov 27 to promote TCM therapy in the county.

During the training, Chen Zhiwei, an internist of Xiyuan Hospital in Beijing, delivered a speech to TCM doctors in the county on the principles and advantages of TCM targeted at chronic diseases. She also introduced the concept, history and indications of gaofang –– a special TCM therapy that is expected to be effective in nourishing weak people and preventing diseases.

The trainees then learned about the production of ointment and semifluid tonics made from TCM, experiencing the traditional treatment of acupoint application and gaofang. Throughout the training, the clinicians expressed that they have furthered their understanding and recognition of TCM therapy and culture.

Free medical consultations and health services were offered to Pingyao residents after the training.
