A delegation led by Lu Fangzhou, Party?secretary?of Jiading district, Shanghai, paid a visit to Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan province on Sept 1.
Chuxiong is one of the poorest areas in Yunnan province. Jiading and Chuxiong established friendly relations in 1983 and began participating in China's "paired assistance" program in 2017.
The delegation learned about poverty?alleviation?efforts?in Chuxiong's seven poverty-stricken counties and?donated some poverty?alleviation funds.
There are currently 13 Jiading officials and 16 medical?and educational professionals working in Chuxiong and helping the prefecture with?poverty-alleviation work.
Yang Bin, Party secretory of Chuxiong, said that Chuxiong has?managed to significantly reduce poverty with the help of Jiading, helping the prefecture on its road to prosperity.
Lu said that Jiading will help Chuxiong out of poverty by boosting employment and consumption. The district will also work with Chuxiong to explore new ways to develop local industries and cultivate professional talent in an effort to accelerate Chuxiong's?social?and?economic?development.
