An exhibition of 49 calligraphy, painting and seal-cutting works by Gu Zhenyue, a respected artist, and his students recently opened at Jiading Museum.
A calligraphy work of a poem composed and designed by Gu debuted at the exhibition. The work depicted scenes of People's Liberation Army soldiers sleeping on the streets of Shanghai on the day of liberation in 1949.
"At the age of 105, Gu is still more than capable, the strength exhibited in his works is really impressive," said Ding Yongjun, a visitor at the exhibition.
The Red Cliff Ode, a 6-meter-long landscape painting created by Gu when he was 96 years old, deftly blends literature with art while at the same time breathing life into the magnificent rivers and mountains.
The exhibition will run through Jan 6, 2020.
