The number of commercial centers in Jiading district of Shanghai is on the rise, thanks to its rapid economic development, local media reported on April 15.
Now, three commercial centers are under construction or in the planning stage in the district. They are Bailian Shopping Mall, Powerlong City Plaza and the In City.
Bailian Shopping Mall
With a combined floor area of 138,000 square meters, the Bailian Shopping Mall will be the largest shopping center in Jiading's central area. Based on a professional market survey, it set up a development plan that caters to consumers' needs in last October.
According to a manager, it has attracted lots of famous brands. And it plans to start trial operation of its catering sector in May. The entire shopping mall is slated to go operational in September.
Powerlong City Plaza

Located in the Jiading New City, the Powerlong City Plaza covers a floor area of 120,000 square meters and has a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan ($154 million).
The upcoming shopping mall is in the shape of a flower, which was designed by the Jerde Partnership, a topnotch design architecture and urban planning firm with headquarters in Los Angeles, US. The unique design will help increase the attractiveness of the mall.
The plaza is multifunctional with the combination of a shopping mall, apartments, and office buildings. It is expected to complete construction in September and begin operation a month later.
