With the idea of enhancing exchanges and cooperation among local entrepreneurship bases and service agencies, an alliance of maker spaces has been announced at an inauguration ceremony in Jiading district of Shanghai on Dec 29.
According to local authorities, the alliance is in line with the nation's call for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. It has a mission to create a better business environment for local entrepreneurship and innovation bases and to improve their management. The alliance will also organize various activities such as training programs, symposiums and forums to help the bases develop better.
The authorities added that a total of 39 local institutions have joined the alliance. The members include 27 maker spaces, three investment institutions, four financial institutions and five service agencies.
Due to local government's strong support to business incubators, it is predicted that the number of maker spaces in Jiading will reach 40, which will cover a combined area of 300,000 square meters.
