Schools at Jiangqiao town in Jiading district of Shanghai are working hard to form unique education features with the aim of improving their quality of education, local media reported on Sept 14.
Fengbang Senior Middle School featured intangible cultural heritage. It established an education base to display intangible cultural heritage items, calligraphy, paintings, and related videos.
Jiangqiao Primary School focused on art and sports education. The school has developed sports programs such as track and field, and soccer. It has also received recognition as a children's palace in October 2013.
And Jinhe Primary School attached importance to folk art by designing courses about puppet show. The idea behind it was cultivating students' cultural literacy. Xinghua Kindergarten combined its teaching with color ink paintings to help students learn with fun.
In addition to local schools' efforts, education authorities have awarded 50 outstanding teachers this year. It was a step to encourage them to follow the student-oriented education philosophy and continue to explore ways to improve their teaching standards.
