Jiading is going to launch the construction of an activity center for the disabled in August, according to a report from the district’s disabled persons’ federation.
With a total investment of 80 million yuan ($13.9 million), the project – called “Sunshine Land” – will become the largest center providing administrative services, training, rehabilitation programs and entertainment activities for disabled people in Shanghai. With the project site situated at Malu Town and a planned floor area of over 8,000 square meters, it is expected to take two years to finish construction.
Apart from the administrative services, demonstrations of devices for the disabled, career training and rehabilitation, Sunshine Land will also contain a café, a sports and recreational center and an experience area of household barrier-free facilities, which can provide a reference for a barrier-free environment at home.
