The Shanghai Jiqiang Automobile Parts Co, a car parts manufacturer in the town of Anting, near Shanghai’s Jiading district, had an output worth 5.24 billion yuan last year, for a whopping year-on-year growth of 337 percent, thanks in no small part to its cooperation with the Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co last year.
Shanghai Volkswagen’s skyrocketing production and related sales gave Jiqiang a real boost and it was able to establish service centers near every new factory that Shanghai Volkswagen established.
One Jiqiang director did say that it mainly produces car parts that are designed by cooperation companies and this is not good for the future, so the company established a design dep’t early this year to close its design gaps and increase competitiveness.
