Qingyuan municipal bureau of land and resources and the tourism bureau are jointly applying for a "China city of hot spring" to elevate the city's hot spring brand at a press conference of "Charming Qingyuan & Lovely Hot Spring", 2011 Guangdong Qingyuan (Yangshan) Hot Spring Tourism Cultural Festival. It aims at taking the city to a new level in the near future and making the city Guangdong's first "China city of hot spring". Hot spring tourism of Qingyuan city has developed fast since 1998, when the Qingxin hot spring tourism resort was established. The business expanded from the original open-air mountainous hot spring to a special karst cave hot spring, and eventually to the pioneered tree-based hot spring. The city has led the province and even the country in innovating new modes of hot spring service. It has been awarded with the honorary titles of "China Hot Spring Hometown", and "Chinese Scenic Spot Best Loved by Europeans". It has met the qualifications to apply for "China city of hot spring."
Until now, hot spring tourism has accounted for one third of the city's annual reception of tourists and tourism revenue. It has become an important component of the city's tourism products. According to leading officials of the municipal tourism bureau, Qingyuan will subdivide the hot spring market, proceed by serving the high-end business men and the general public, and improve service quality and reception levels. It will improve facilities for high-end consumers and the general public. The hot spring service companies will organize to make overall plans and promotions of the hot spring tourism, with unified steps and images. They will cultivate various tourism lines, comprised of diversified scenic spots and the hot spring zones, to meet all sorts of demands of tourists.
