China’s first mine search and rescue robot, which is able to detect the existence of human beings in mine accidents, has been successfully developed in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province.
The robot reportedly adopts the tracklayer apparatus to walk, with considerable barrier-surmount capacity. The robot is able to scout the environment. With an installed optical detecting apparatus, the robot is able to look over destroyed mines and transmit real-time video images through wireless networks.
The robot is equipped with detectors to examine gases, pressures and temperatures in the mines, and to ensure the security of the rescuers. Through the double-way voice conveyance system, the robot may serve as a telephone, telling rescuers to of the information on the surrounding environment in the trapped mines. To date, the robot has gained approval from the experts.
