Shanxi Opera Troupe of Shanxi Traditional Opera Institute:

The Shanxi Traditional Opera Institute is in charge of the Shanxi Opera Troupe, an influential art group with a glorious history. Numerous drama masters and talents have gathered here, including winners of the Chinese Opera Plum Blossom Award. In 1959, the Shanxi Opera Troupe joined the Shanxi performance group and performed the traditional Shanxi Opera Visiting the West Lake and Chinese Orphan in Beijing. The troupe also toured 13 provinces and cities in the Jiangnan area. In 1985, a new historical play The First Emperor of Qin was performed at the national Chinese Opera joint display. It won 11 awards including First Prize for Performance. It was performed in 14 cities in Japan and well-received. In 1990, the troupe gave a performance in Beijing in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Anhui Opera Troupe entering Beijing. In 2000, a new historical play Yang Zhen: The Supreme Military Official won eight awards in the first China Shanxi Opera Art Festival. In 2002, the troupe performed several highlights from operas, such as Snow in Midsummer and Yellow Crane Tower. In 2008, a new historical play A General of Qin won 16 awards at the fifth Shanxi Art Festival. In 2010, it won six awards at the fifth China Shanxi Opera Art Festival. In 2011, a new historical play Tang Dynasty Chronicle won 13 awards at the sixth Shanxi Art Festival.
