Shagang Group in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province was honored as a 2013 national-level regional leading enterprise for its innovation in working style by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Five enterprises in Jiangsu received the honor. Shagang Group was the only one in the Suzhou area to receive the honor.

Shagang Group believes “technology leads to development” and focuses on talent introduction and training. A total of 375 researchers have been brought in, including 25 with doctorates and 94 with master’s degrees.

The company set up a national technology center, a steel and iron research institute, a metallic material laboratory and an academician work station.

The company also attaches great importance to management innovation, setting up 147 related projects that will yield economic returns of 280 million yuan ($45.6 million).

Promotion and use of technological innovation results in enhanced technology development and products for Shagang Group. The company has finished 125 projects focusing on developing new products and improving technology and quality.
