Highways

An intersection of highways G6 (Beijing-Tibet autonomous region) and G65 (Baotou- Maoming).

National highways G110 and G210 go through Baotou.

Railways

Transportation hub for Beijing-Baotou, Baotou-Lanzhou and Baotou-Xi’an railways.

Metro Line 1 is under construction.

Airport

Baotou Airport is a national 4D-level airport. It is 23 kilometers away from the downtown area, and has more than 20 airline routes, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Chengdu and Guangzhou.

The airport terminal and supporting facilities are under construction.

Ports

Frontier port: Makkaur port, a national level port

Inland port: It has a transfer station for international containers

Land Resources

Baotou has sufficient land supply and can meet the demands of construction land

The land price is favorable.

Mineral resources

More than 74 kinds of minerals have been found in Baotou, especially abundant metals.

It is also abundant in rare earth metals, making it a world-level rare earth industrial cluster.

Baotou and its neighboring lands have a coal capacity of 230 billion tons, and 700 billion cu m of natural gas.

Water resources

The Yellow River runs through Baotou, covering 220 sq km with an annual runoff volume of 26 billion cu m.

The available surface water capacity reaches 90 million cu m (the Yellow River water capacity excluded), underground water reaches 8.6 billion cu m.

Clean energy

Baotou is abundant in wind and solar energy. Its wind energy capacity is more than 42.5 million kilowatts and the available sunshine is over 2,300 hours per year.

Tourism resources

Historical relics: Ashan Relic, the Great Walls constructed during the Warring States period（475-221BC）and Qin Dynasty (221-206BC), Machi Ancient City, Allen Ancient City Relic built during the Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368).

Places of interest: Wudangzhao Temple, Meidai Monastery

Landscapes: the Yellow River Wetland, Jiufeng Mountain and Meiligeng Scenic Spot
