Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritages Museum opened in Orange Island Park on Nov 7, with people able to visit for free from Tuesday to Sunday.

The museum covers an area of 2,023 square meters, displaying thousands of intangible cultural heritages across more than 70 categories. An opera house has also established itself beside the museum for enjoying Chinese opera, music, Quyi programs and traditional Changsha snacks.

The museum is divided into several parts, including areas on the production technique of chrysanthemum stone carving and Liuyang fireworks, rhythm forms of Changsha flower-and-drum opera, traditional Hunan food and snacks, classic Hunan festival culture, and the arts of the inheritors.

Visitors can learn skills from the inheritors in the museum and experience the magic of intangible cultural heritages through multimedia interaction and phantom imaging, such as making porcelain, Hunan embroidery, stinky tofu and more.

Qin Shijiao, an inheritor of Wangcheng folk paper-cutting, shows his skills on site. He said that the museum is a good platform for better communication and the passing on of traditional crafts.

People's understanding of Changsha's intangible cultural heritages will be enhanced through the hands-on experience of the museum.
