This park is in the middle of the Xingsha University City, adjacent to Changsha Teachers College and the Hunan Mass Media Vocational Technical College and is a memorial to Mao Zedong’s teacher, a great revolutionary and educator, whose name it bears.

It was previously known as Xingsha Ecological Park, but after some refurbishing it reopened, in August 2005, under its current name, as a way to remind people to respect teachers.

At the entrance, there is an 8.5-meter-tall bronze statue of Xu, with a 3-meter base, among the pines and cypresses. Inside, there is a terrace to commemorate teachers, halfway up a hill, with a semicircular stone wall bearing an engraving of Mao Zedong's words to Xu: “You were my teacher 20 years ago, you are still my teacher now, and you will remain my teacher in the future.”

On the other side of the wall is a letter from Mao to Xu, congratulating him on his 60th birthday. At the top of the hill there is a “Teacher Saint Pavilion”, with a description of Xu’s life and some memorial relics. The 4-tier pavilion has a classical cantilevered structure for its main body and a roof with a modern design.

A library was also added to the park, with more than 100,000 books as a tribute to the respected teacher. Alongside the library is an art museum covering over 1,000 square meters.

The park also has more than 20 tourist attractions, such as Canglang Pool, the Long Corridor, Message Pavilion, Lotus Pond and the Apricot Altar. One visit to the park and a look at the inscriptions and you can’t hold respecting Xu Teli and his deeds.
