June 26, 2009: The main construction of inverted siphons and box culverts in the Weihe River, the first section in Tianjin of the Middle Route Project, was accomplished.

June 30, 2009: The construction of the Hongze Lake-Luoma Lake Section of the East Route Project started.

July 28, 2009: The construction of the Zhengzhou (Henan province) Section of the Middle Route Project started, marking a new stage of the Middle Route Project south of the Yellow River.

July 29, 2009: The construction of the Tianjin Main Canal of the Middle Route Project in Hebei started.

Sept 29, 2009: The Jinan-Dongping Lake Channel of the East Route Project opened the floodgates to supply water for the Xiaoqing River.

Dec 26, 2009: The goal of river closure was achieved in the Xinglong Water-Control Project of the Middle Route Project.

Dec 30, 2009: The construction of the Siyang Pumping Station, a project of the first phase of the East Route Project, started.
