Guiyang has completed 141,200 mu (9,413 hectares) of afforestation this year, surpassing the municipal government's target of 120,000 mu of afforestation for the whole year.
Contracts to develop a total of nine tourism projects worth 6 billion yuan ($893 million) in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, were announced at a tourism promotion conference in Beijing on Aug 4.
Despite temperatures above 35C in many parts of China, the resort city of Guiyang is relatively cool in summer, and as such held an international marathon on July 15.
