A sand sculpture inspired by the film Lord of the Rings has been hailed as Asia's largest sand artwork, and it is a star attraction at the annual sand sculpture festival.
The first China Pingtan International Sculpture Festival will kick off in October, and the organizing committee plans to solicit 35 sculptures out of 100 applications from sculptor artists from home and abroad.
Various cultural performances are being held every night at Haiyu Square at Longfengtou Bathing Beach, Pingtan as part of the 2013 Cross-Straits Beach Culture Festival.
