More than 5,000 young entrepreneurs from Taiwan and across the mainland have flocked to Pingtan in Fujian province to attend the 2016 National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week Pingtan, which features a start-up contest as part of the week-long event running from Oct 12 to 18.

Pingtan has invited business consultants, successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to choose from the 56 start-up teams competing in the contest, with the winning teams to be invited to start a business in Pingtan.

The contest will take place on Oct 15-16, with the competing teams also able to exhibit their projects at an achievement exhibition that will run through the full length of the entrepreneurship event.

Other activities included in the event are project presentations, seminars, an inventions market, and screenings of movies featuring entrepreneurs' stories.
