A tourist from Fuzhou city was rescued after he fell into the sea from a passenger ferry as he was disembarking at a port in Pingtan county, Fujian province, on Oct 3.

The man, with the surname Xu, said that there were many people pushing him along as they were all eager to move ahead and disembark, and he lost his balance and fell.

"The boat began shake when I had one of my feet on the ground and broke away from the port in the next second. I lost my balance and fell into the sea."

Other tourists pulled Xu to safety. His body was bruised.

Xu and his wife were on a trip to Pingtan for the National Day holidays.
