Kite surfers from the county of Pingtan have won medals at the Weifang International Kitesurfing Invitational in east China's Shandong province.

The team, consisting of five players, won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the four-day event that ended on September 11, according to the team coach Zhai Dahui.

Li Peng claimed the second place during the men's speed racing, and Chen Jinyue, a 13-year-old upcoming star, reached third place during the women's freestyle and speed racing.

Zhai explained that, as there were two adult professionals in Chen's group, third place is not a bad result.

The event attracted many elite kite surfers, including professionals from home and abroad, and Zhai added that the results of the Pingtan team are of great significance.
