Residents of Pingtan county are increasingly interested in overseas tours – especially those involving short distances.

South Korea and Thailand top the list of dream destinations of local residents, said a manager of a local travel agency, adding that his tours to the two countries in September have all sold out.

He also said that the two countries boast major attractions but that the relatively low prices contributed to the popularity of the tours, as the air fares are significantly lower in September, compared to the National Day holiday in early October.

Another tourism industry professional said that, despite the increase in prices next month, Pingtan residents are still very interested in going on overseas tours, Taiwan tours and short-distance tours.
