There is a greater sense of security at a popular tourist resort in Pingtan county since a mobile police station was set up in July, the Pingtan Times said on Friday, Aug 9.

The Haitan Deity, a large rock in the shape of a reclining man, is located in Pingtan and it attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.

The local border forces opened the mobile police station last month with the aim of dealing with issues relating to traffic, to offer information and to help resolve disputes - and two police officers and a paramedic are on duty every day.

In July, the number of tourists to the Haitan Deity rose by 18 percent year on year while the number of cases involving disputes declined 20 percent.

The mobile police office has received 200 people, mediating 3 dispute cases and carried out 4 fire-control inspections in the zone.
