Greening work on Jinjing Bay Boulevard, a key passage for vehicles entering Pingtan Island, is well underway, reported the Pingtan Times on Monday.

Despite the searing heat, workers are busy planting trees along the median strip of the boulevard, said the newspaper.

The greening work will be completed by Sept 8, the day the boulevard goes into use, according to a responsible person for the project.

The spokesperson said not to worry about the impact of the lingering heat on the plants as they have made efforts to improve the soil one week in advance. Pesticide spray and water are also being provided on a regular basis to increase the survival rate of saplings.
