The Fujian Provincial Marine and Fishery Video Conference was held on the afternoon of Feb 18. You Mengjun, deputy-director of the administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, attended the conference at Pingtan's conference site.

The conference gave priority to the development of the province's oceanic economy. Fujian encourages advanced marine projects to find a market in the province. It will also promote already existing modern projects in efficient ecological breeding and aquatic product deep processing.

At the same time, Fujian will improve marine industrial infrastructure and disaster relief ability. Preferential policies will also be established to help optimize oceanic management mechanisms.

Development of the marine economy has strategic importance for the island county, according to Chen Wenbo, an official with Pingtan's administrative committee. Pingtan will invest greatly in the construction of fishery harbors and the reparation of fishing boats. The pilot zone also has plans to organize better aquatic product breeding order for healthier aquatic industry development.
