After only 2400 hours in total of business, carrying 4.52 billion people in total, 45,200 passengers per day—58,400 at its peak—the high-speed rail running between Fuzhou and Xiamen has broken the record again and again in terms of attendance rates, topping the track within the borders of China.
Some statistics released by authorities concerned show that May saw fourteen billion people take the high-speed train to travel and in June, though affected by the flood, there were still almost thirteen billion people choosing the high-speed train. In July, the number reached fifteen billion.
Reason for its popularity
Besides the Fuxia high-speed rail, there are Jingjin, Wuguang and Zhengxi high-speed rails. The reasons for its popularity involve various aspects. The completion of this rail brings convenient traffic approaches to the locals. On the other hand, the price of Fuxia high-speed rail is even lower than that of bus tickets. Xiamen government recently issued a circulation stating that its civil servants could get an allowance if they took the high-speed train on business trips. The Shanghai World Expo was another factor stimulating the attendance rate to rise.
