The price of water in Fujian province will surge starting on Jan 1, 2015, a source from the provincial price bureau said on Dec 25.

In Fuzhou, the water fee for urban and rural residential use will increase from 0.06 yuan to 0.1 yuan per cubic meter. For industrial use, the charge will rise from 0.08 yuan to 0.12 yuan per cubic meter. And the water price for other business purposes will jump from 0.12 yuan to 0.16 yuan per cubic meter based on the new standard.

It is notable that if a subscriber exceeds the water quota limit by within 20 percent, he will be charged double the price for the excessive amount. The fee will triple on a 20-50 percent excess, and quadruple on 50 percent or above.
