Award Ceremony for Creative Works in Xi'an Expo

On Oct 9, the Awarding Ceremony for the Expo 2011 Xi'an Creative Work Exhibition and Creative Future Youth Works Contest was held on the Shuilongyin stage. According to experts' review and SMS and on-the-spot votes, 18 works stood out. Parts of the works have been stored up permanently by the Expo; they will be displayed to the public. The contest lasted 7 months and received 826 pieces of creative works. After screening by the Organizing Committee, 72 pieces were shown to visitors at the Expo. The Transformer is made of beverage boxes, the Rubber Horse made of tires, the Footprint filled with used plastic bottle. Each of them reflects the concepts of the Expo "harmony between heaven and mankind" and "harmonious co-existence of mankind and nature". The expert review panel was made of up the following: Wolfgang Meisenheimer, a German sculpture master and architect, Li Jiemin, the honorary curator of Shaanxi Provincial Art Museum, Li Yanzu, a professor of fine arts in Academy of Art and Design of Tsinghua University, Jia Tingfeng, the president of Beijing Taihe Art Gallery and Yan Dong, the art director of the Organizing Committee of Expo 2011 Xi’an Creative Contest. They valued the works in terms of the theme and connotation, form of expression, artistic skill, and audience votes. Then they selected three first prizes, six second prizes and nine third prizes. On the occasion of the awarding ceremony, 30 voters won prizes out of a lucky draw.
