Robin Li, or Li Yanhong in Chinese, is the founder, chairman and CEO of Baidu Inc. Before founding Baidu, Li was already one of the world’s top engineers in internet search engine development. His patented Rankdex technology set the foundation for the modern search engine. Baidu is one of the world’s largest Chinese language search engine companies. Its success makes China one of four countries with core search engine technology, together with the US, Russia and South Korea. Li was honored as a CCTV Yearly Economic Figure and Pioneer of the Reform and Opening-up. He was also honored as the Most Influential Chinese Business Leader and Most Influential Global Figure by Business Week and Fortune.

Introduction to Baidu
Baidu, the world’s largest Chinese language search engine and website, was founded in January 2000 in Zhongguancun, Beijing, also known as the Chinese Silicon Valley.Robin Li returned from Silicon Valley and founded the company on Jan 1, 2000. Since then, it has developed from a small company with less than 10 staff members to one of the most popular and influential Chinese language websites in the world.
Baidu has a team of thousands of engineers that help maintain the company as a world leader in internet search engine technology.
The company aims to create the easiest system to help people access information. Baidu offers diverse services, including a Chinese language search engine for websites, audio files, and images and a searchable keyword-based discussion forum. It accounts for more than 70 percent of the Chinese search engine market.On Aug 5, 2005, Baidu was listed on the Nasdaq and became a hot stock as it performed well that day. Baidu continued to prove its market value with years of remarkable performance in the stock market.
On Jan 23, 2008, Baidu Japan officially began operation, ushering in the company’s international strategy.
