Mengtan Pavilion
Mengtan Pavilion is the antique exhibition hall of the Peach Blossoms Pool.
Leaning against the the Pavilion on the Bank of Farewell Song and Dance, the Mengtan Pavilion lies in between the Nian Army Mansion and the Scholar’s Mansion.
The pavilion features antiques and fine arts, including historical accounts of the Peach Blossoms Pool, plaques inscribed by celebrities, stone tablets and wooden carvings. The most famous and valuable wood carving is “Seeing off to the Songs" (《踏歌送行圖》).
The “Four Treasures of the Study” is an area designed for visitors to write down their thoughts as they are inspired by the antiques in the hall, and includes a writing brush, ink, an ink slab and paper.
Through the wooden steps in the pavilion, visitors can reach the the Pavilion on the Bank of Farewell Song and Dance and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Peach Blossoms Pool, which seemingly forms a part of a moving cubistic painting.
Leaning on the railings and looking afar, it is as if one has been brought back to the Tang Dynasty when Wang Lun was seeing Li Bai off with his emotional songs.
Who could bear to leave such a lovely view?
