The Fusai industrial park for automotive electronics broke ground and was launched at Changchun International Auto City in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province on Aug 15, according to local media reports.

The total construction area of the project is 42,000 square meters and the total investment is 1.4 billion yuan ($201.69 million), officials said.

After the completion, it will mainly focus on intelligent cockpits, intelligent driving and services for intelligent connected vehicles.

The project involves building an R&D center and an industrial park. The research center will become leading international experimental center according to ISO/IEC17025 industry standards.

The park will feature 31 assembly lines and 18 SMT patch lines including a trial production line.

The industrial park will produce, among other things, audio navigation systems, air conditioning controllers, instruments and on-board display systems. They will also produce assistance driving systems and other products, as well as related software and services for the internet of vehicles, big data management and information security software and services.

Officials said that since the start of the year, Changchun International Auto City -- relying on major auto manufacturer FAW Group -- has made major progress. It has clearly defined the development goals of building a world-class service base for automobile and spare parts research and development, manufacturing and create a trillion-yuan annual production value automobile industry.

Officials said the newly launched project is another important example of FAW Group's leading role in the construction of the auto city.

Wang Guoqiang, assistant manager of FAW Group, said that the project was being positioned as the group's core strategic resource in the field of technologies for intelligent and connected vehicles.

As one of the shareholders of Fusai, Wang added that his group will strengthen its already close links with Fusai to carry out open cooperation and collaborative innovation in smart cockpits, smart driving and networking services.

He said that his group was striving to build Fusai as a major player in the auto industry.

The goal is for it to become in the next three to five years an international first-class and domestic leading smart automotive enterprise in its business scale, technological capabilities, smart manufacturing and digital services -- to support the rapid development of FAW in China.
