It goes without arguing that functionality is what lies at the heart of any design. But when it comes to our lived environment, a certain degree of compassion is just as valued as its comfort. Function and Emotion, a furniture-lifestyle exhibition scheduled to open during the upcoming Beijing Design Week in late September, will set out to explore the "sense and sensibility" that could be aroused or nurtured through the exposure to well-conceived interiors. Highlights of the show include a group of light-infused works by some German artists using multi-colored, ultra-light polycarbonate sheets. The various parts of the installment can be disassembled and reassembled at the user's will, providing an infinite array of possibilities for people with a playful spirit.
